Hi Parents! My name is Sakura and I am a 26 year old freelancer who has just done a year and some additional childcare work in Munich, Germany! I used to live in NYC and have extensive babysitting work there from caring for infants and toddlers, to caring for elementary aged children. I worked all over the city, with most of my work in Williamsburg/East Village. I have just spent the past year and several months in Munich working with children. For a full year I worked as an au-pair for a German family who used to live in the NY metropolitan area and wanted their kids to have English integrated in their minds. I was responsible for 2 boys, aged 4 and 9 (the older one just turned 9!) and I lived with the family so I was involved in their everyday lives. I was responsible for taking the Read more little one to Kindergarten every morning, followed by picking up both kids from school and kindergarten. I have learned how to balance the age differences so that I don't solely pay attention to the younger one, while understanding that the boys needed different attention and activities to do. The boys are very active so I played a lot of sports with them, especially soccer since they're a true German family ;) I would take them to different field-trips like to the zoo or to the BMW factory when possible and I would take care of them if they were sick. After my au-pair year, I was on my way to be a Kindergarten teacher in Munich and got a part-time job with the Gymboree franchise located in Munich! I became a music teacher and learned how to cater to every age group. I love working with kids and I find my work with kids extremely rewarding. With all my experience in childcare, I've learned that patience, trust, and understanding are essential for giving kids the best care they can have. I am strongly aware how important it is to be able to not just discipline kids, but to also listen to them. I make it a priority to establish a good relationship with both my kids and their parents so that there is a good community feel between all parties, and that the parents and I are on the same page. I am reliable and extremely punctual, and even though I haven't lived in NYC for the past year or so, I still know how to navigate NYC like a native.
