Hi, my name is Lela! I am 19 years old and have been officially babysitting since I was 12, however I have 4 younger siblings who I have helped take care of for as long as I can remember. When I lived at home, I babysat for many different sizes and types of families. I have experience taking care of children ages 4 months to 11 years, and I love it! Some important skills I have gained over the years are the ability to effectively defuse arguments or emotional meltdowns, kindly but firmly enforcing rules while not being rude or angry, and being able to have fun while remaining safe. I also understand that growing up can be difficult for children, especially with their big emotions, so I work hard to make sure kids’ feelings are validated and I help them work through them. Another part of the job that I love is watching their creative brains at work. One of my favorite activities to do with kids is drawing and coloring. Each time, their sweet hearts almost always make their picture for someone else, whether that be their mom, brother, or even me!
