Hello! My name is Siobhan Hayes (it’s an Irish-Gaelic name, pronounced sha-von). I am a third year student at the University of Oregon, studying to become a 5th grade teacher. Starting in middle school and through high school I was a volunteer and then staff at a summer camp for students of all ages and of all abilities. This experience offered me valuable life lessons in patience and behavior management. I now spend my days attending classes where I learn about child development and how best to care for my future students. When I’m not in a UofO classroom, I’m in one of the 5th grade classrooms around Eugene. I spend this time building relationships with students as well as teachers. My favorite babysitting activities are trips to the library, arts and crafts, and playing at the park!
