Hi! I'm Kendra, and I am about to start my PhD program at the University of Oregon. I've loved working with kids since I was young, and I'm excited to have the possibility of being your sitter! I started babysitting when I was 10, and eventually I transitioned to working with kids in a more professional capacity (as a speech-language pathology graduate student). As a student and researcher, I specialize in language development, as well as neurodivergence. I have experience working with a wide range of kids (age, ability level, personal background, and language). I am a native English speaker and conversationally proficient in Spanish. My approach to childcare is to allow the child space to be a child while honoring the family's values. Children are not mini adults; they are exploring the world, and I'm here to help them feel comfortable and confident in their surroundings. I'm comfortable juggling all aspects of childcare: play/activity time (joint play, conversations, guided activities, space- whatever your child needs), meal prep (I love to cook and I have experience working with children through food aversions), academic/homework support (I've tutored children ages 5-17), emotional/ sensory support, medical support (I have experience with medically complex children from 8 months to 12 years old), transportation, and even pet care (I've been petsitting since I was 14)!
