Greetings Honored Parents! Here is some relevant information about me, your Potential Perfect Sitter: I love spending time with children of all ages. I raised 3 successful kids (now adults), 2 of whom I home-schooled until middle school. We belonged to a homeschooling group, so I am adept at connecting and tutoring kids of all ages and backgrounds. From 2018-2020, I worked as an Educational Assistant in the 4J School District, grades K-12. My philosophy when it comes to parenting/childcare is this: when children know they are loved, they feel confident to pursue and achieve their ideas, goals, dreams. Children feel loved when these (short list) conditions are present: listening, playing, creating, exploring, validating, learning, synergy with friends/family/caregivers. I'm a great believer in giving children freedom to explore their interests and surroundings, while providing healthy boundaries and appropriate structure. Spending time outside in nature, doing arts/crafts; and playing games are Read more mainstays of my childcare mojo. I'm not a huge fan of allowing kids to spend their precious time and talents in front of a screen, or on social media, unless it forwards educational or other specified goals. Regarding discipline - my belief is that if a child acts out or is disruptive, they are either not getting their needs met; or are testing boundaries. Children 0-3 typically cry or tantrum due to not getting their needs met - dirty diaper, hungry, tired, need to be held and rocked/bounced. The solutions to these issues are obvious and relatively easy. Children ages 3-13 may act out due to not getting their needs met. But may also act out to test boundaries. What to do when a child in your care is acting out to test boundaries? I have an excellent theory of case and method, and would love to share it with you. I look forward to hearing from you, Honored Parent!
