My interest in childcare developed early as I was the oldest girl in a large family. I loved helping my mother with my younger siblings. I also started babysitting neighborhood children at an early age. I attended nursing school, receiving a bachelors of science in nursing, and worked as an RN for nearly thirty years, including several years working on pediatric units. I had been certified in Advanced Pediatric Life Support in the past. During that time I helped raise four children of my own, was a foster mother, and began having several grandchildren. I have been retired since 2008 keeping busy with helping my children and learning how to take care of my own needs. Currently, my children are independent, I have free time, and I need extra income, but do not want to reinvest myself into a new career. I appreciate being able to be flexible, however I Read more am able to be accountable as required. I realize parenting styles are unique to each family, so any personality discrepancy may not necessarily be right versus wrong, but possibly unclear boundaries. I have the benefit of having raised a very diverse family and have been learning entirely new philosophies of child rearing while seeing their advantages. I appreciate variety, but I am most comfortable with a combination of structured and relaxed settings. I am not good at video games. My hobbies include reading, embroidery, sewing, baking, watching some TV, and chauffeuring my family around. I really enjoy children who want to interact, but I'm comfortable with those who prefer to wait until trust is earned. I avoid keeping confidences from parents.
