Hello there! **I am looking for a new family to care for starting this September!** I am currently a nanny working with a lovely family, but the youngest is starting school this fall, so they will no longer require my help come September. Ever since I was a young teenager I knew that I wanted to work alongside youth. In 2019 I finished my BA in Educational Studies with the intent of working with youth longterm. While still in school in 2018, I began teaching at a Reggio inspired preschool program where students learn through play. Although I loved being a preschool teacher, in the fall of 2022 I realized that I needed a change of pace, and so I decided to switch gears towards nannying. I've been with my first family since October of 2022 and I have learned just how wonderfully rewarding this job can be. I love Read more being able to show the world to young minds and see their eyes light up as they learn and play. And learn through play, of course. As a nanny, I am a firm believer in outdoor play. I will try to get your child outside everyday, even often on rainy days, as I feel it is so important for your child's development. I also believe in teaching children responsibility for one's self. Two examples of this include teaching them to put on their own shoes, or how to clean up after their own self. I often go by the child's lead, but some of my favorite activities to incorporate include: art, baking, sensory play, and going on "adventures;" I consider any outing to be an adventure. I love going to places such as: various drop-in/sign-up classes;OMSI; the zoo; local parks; Red Yarn and other musical performers; local open gym; among many other spots around Portland. I am first aid and CPR certified Before preschool teaching, I had worked in the food industry for over 7 years so I am familiar working with food inside and outside of my own home. Most of my college education revolved around youth and how to care for them in a way that caters to their own personal needs. I have experience dog sitting as well as owning my own share of animals, so animals are definitely okay by me! In my free time, I love spending time with my small family that consists of my boyfriend and our pets. I also love working on arts and crafts myself, such as cross-stitching. Working alongside youth is absolutely a passion of mine and I would love to meet yours.
