My name is Alex. I am 30 years old, and just moved to Portland this past December. I am returning to the US after living in Germany for 7 years. My first year in Berlin I had the amazing opportunity of being an Au Pair. Over the next 6 years I continued to babysit for this family and their friends. Also helping to hire and train new Au Pairs to help fit their family's needs. I am a trained pastry chef and have had a career in hospitality outside of childcare. I love working in kitchens, but my love for working for children always keeps me coming back to babysitting/nannying. In my free time I enjoy exploring new places with my partner and our 11 year old Chihuahua, Mr. Tuna Pickles. I do consider myself a creative person, and love to explore new ways to express me creativity. Currently I Read more am teaching myself to sew, and learning how to build a sustainable garden in my backyard. For me working with children has so many benefits, one in particular being a safe person outside of the family for that child to trust, learn from, be silly with, to explore with. Creative a general sense of safety and comfort for both the parent and the child is always my top priority.
