I am fairly new to the area, but my husband has lived around here his entire life! We are currently completely remodeling our home and in the process of adopting. I adore children, I always have. I grew up with a doll in arm at all times, my mom can verify. Likewise, I began babysitting at the age of 12, after taking a Red Cross course, but was also fortunate to have grown up in a large extended family - my aunts and uncles having had their children when I was in middle and high school. I spent a lot of my free time in the summers caring for them. Also noteworthy, my stepmom had my younger half-brother right after I graduated high-school. Needless to say I'm very comfortable with infants. During the year, my senior year of high school and all through college, I was employed by a local Read more art museum, helping to run camps and on-site after school programs. I worked with kids of all ages, ranging from preschool all the way up to high school. I went on to receive a Masters of Arts in teaching, and worked in the public school system for 5 years as a middle school art teacher. I enjoyed my time there, but loved knowing my students as people, more than I did teaching them about my favorite subject. After teaching, I went on to run a local ministry for teenage mothers in my hometown of Huntington, WV for the last four years. I could elaborate about this experience immensely, as you might assume. To sum things up, as you can see, I have a vast experience with children from infancy on up, ranging from private in-home care to work in the public school systems, to grant-funded after school programs.
