My name is Hannah Webster, I am currently a student at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, where I am studying Journalism. I currently work as a seasonal interpreter at the Genesee Country Museum in Mumford, NY during the summer. I am the game keeper so I teach adults and children alike how to use 19th century games. In the past, I have babysit for a family whom I met while I was a teacher at an art studio called S.P.L.A.T (Caledonia, NY). I had been babysitting for them for the past 3 years until the oldest outgrew need of a babysitter and could look after her younger brother and sister. I enjoyed absolutely every minute of babysitting them. Since I started babysitting, I have developed a great friendship with the family especially the children. I have experience babysitting two girls 8-13 years of age and one 9 year old boy with Read more autism. Before moving away to college, I was an After-School Child Care site assistant at 3 different elementary schools in the Rochester NY City School District. With this job, my role was basically an after-school teacher with a fun twist. We planned activities for each day, helped kids with homework, and watched kids as they played either in the gym or on the playground. They were served a meal or snack as well. Throughout high school I volunteered to direct my school's middle school play as a student director. I directed sixth through eighth graders from November until their production at the end of January each year. I retired from my position upon my senior year as I would be graduating that spring. I enjoyed my four years getting to know many young people and developing friendships with each one. It was definitely a valuable experience. I was also a camp counselor and planning committee member for a local church camp, Camp Ottie Cannan, for the summers of 2011 and 2012. Unfortunately due to insufficient funding the museum could not reopen the following summer. I have teen leader experience with Genesee County 4-H where I was a member until 2012. I had been a member 4-H for 11 years until I retired. In the future, I would like to be a journalist for a prestigious newspaper or magazine. My heart is definitely in pursuing a career in writing. My wish is to also incorporate a career in which I work with young people. My patience for youthful spirits is very high and I enjoy creating friendships while maintaining the responsibility of looking after these individuals.
