Children and animals have been drawn to me for as long as I can remember, even when I didn’t want them to be. I kept everyone’s younger siblings busy during events and sports to a point that many parents of our family friends asked if I would consider being a mother’s helper. So at age 12 I did just that. I kept kids busy in the home while their mothers completed tasks they’d otherwise be pulled away from. By age 14 I was babysitting on my own most weekends. At age 16 my family faced adversity that no one ever saw coming. My brother was in a tragic accident and suffered from a traumatic brain injury rendering him speechless and immobile to this day. As much pain and sorrow that day has given me, it also provided insight and opportunity I wouldn’t Have had the opportunity to experience otherwise. I’ve Read more spent over a decade now learning from nurses, teachers in special education, PT/OT and speech therapists and my brother himself, about how to care for people with a wide variety of physical, mental and even emotional disabilities. The experiences I’ve encountered in my young life so far, I feel, make me uniquely qualified to care for just about anyone with love, patience and empathy that you won’t find in the majority of people you meet in this world. Additionally, at age 23 my best friend found herself to be a single mother who was very overwhelmed and working graveyard shifts. My 2 days off each week was dedicated to caring for her infants overnight while she worked, into the following day so she could sleep and get enough rest to return to work the next night. For a little over 1 year I played the roll of a single mother 2-3 days a week which provided me the knowledge, experience, and hair pulling stress required to properly care for infants. Qualities I feel are most notable about me: -Empathetic -Patient -Thrives under pressure -Emotionally intelligent -Incredibly calm, collected and rational in any crisis situation -Pragmatic -Honest -Kind in my communication even when harsh truths need to be delivered -Calm and soothing in response to angry and irrational behavior -Great at compromising -Willingness to listen and understand what others have to say -Member of the board at Happy Heart Happy Home Farm Rescue I’m happy to answer any questions and concerns you may have in regards to my quality and ability to care for your child.
