I have been in child care for just almost 6 years now and I still go to work everyday with a big smile on my face! I started out as a full time nanny for my niece when she was just two months old. My sister was in a bind with her having to go back to work but not wanting to put my niece in day care because of how young she was, so I decided to quit my job and nanny for her full time. I can honestly say that was the best decision I have ever made for myself. Doing so, I truly realized how much I loved to watch children grow into amazing little people and it is now my life passion to do so. After being her nanny for a year, I decided it was time for me to try and gain more experience in Read more the child care industry, and that's when I started working as a full time pre school teacher at a day care in the 3-4 year old room. While working there I also gained experience in all of the other rooms with every different age group from infants to after school care. I really enjoyed my time there working as a teacher and it definitely gave me life long skills I carry with me through my nanny jobs. After working there for over a year, I realized that home care child care is what I really wanted to do and that's what is meant for me. Once I realized that, I found a great family to be a nanny for and really be a part of their family. I took care of two amazing kids that were the ages of 3 and 5. I did everything such as give them breakfast, get them ready for school, take them to and from school, make them lunch, create daily activities for them to do. I would take them places such as the park, the zoo, out to lunch, and the pool in the summer. I also did household duties, running errands, etc. I was with that family for over a year when unfortunately the father lost his job so I had find a new family. That brought me to being nanny for two kids, ages 2 and 5. I similarly did everything for this family like I have stated before. I also did the meals, drop off and pick ups from school, taking the kids to their activity classes. When the weather permits I would take them to the park, zoo, playground, for bike rides, scavenger hunts, or just simply play outside with a ball and a bat. I do household duties and run errands as needed. I left this family in June of 2015 because that is when my contract was known to end. From June to January 2016 I was a nanny for two boys of ages 2 and 5. The reason for me having to leave the family is that they found someone to pay off the books.
