I am a senior at the University of Pittsburgh pursuing a major in Communication Science & Disorders, a certificate in American Sign Language (ASL), and a minor in Education. In the fall, I am attending a graduate program to become a Speech-Language Pathologist. I spent four summers at the Mon Valley YMCA as a summer day camp counselor. In this role, I worked with children between Read more the ages of 4-12. I also lifeguarded during this time. I had the opportunity to work with children both with and without disabilities. I am a volunteer for a Special Olympics Youth Association (SOYA) program here at Pitt where I spend a one-on-one session with children ages 2-7. Additionally, I spent this previous summer working with children with Down syndrome as part of a research study. My twin sister and I are the oldest of nine grandchildren on my Mom's side of the family. Meaning, I have seven younger cousins between 2-18 years old! We are lucky enough to all live close to one another, and I have been changing diapers and babysitting for as long as I can remember.
