Hi! My name is Elena, and I am currently studying sociology and child development at San Diego State University in hopes of becoming an elementary school teacher. I have a passion for educational justice research and advocacy, which is something I hope to pursue throughout my teaching and research career as well. As an Assistant Preschool Teacher, I have lots of experience designing engaging, fun curriculum for children. This position has helped me develop creative approaches to engage young learners with materials that center equity, inclusion, and accessibility in the classroom. I have taught swim lessons (ages 9 months all the way up to 18 years) for over 5 years, developing positive relationships with each swimmer in order to help them gain confidence in the water. I love working with children because their creativity and curious minds inspire me!
