I worked in childcare for 10+ years, first as a mother's helper at age 13. I then worked at a YMCA day camp for 7 years, including my CIT training. In college, I babysat regularly for a professor's daughter from when she was 1 year old to 2.5 years old when I graduated. In graduate school, I worked part-time at another YMCA in their childcare center while also living with 3 boys under the age of 4 for a year. I was essentially a co-parent to their mom, helping daily with diaper changes, laundry, bath and meal times, and bedtime routines. As a working professional, my childcare now mainly consists of hanging with my 8 year old niece and 5 year old nephew. I am getting back into paid childcare gigs as I look to make a career pivot in my day job.
