Hello! My name is Mahrissa. I’m in my 30s and currently a 2nd career nursing student with a background in psychiatry and mental health I love being a sitter because it allows me to truly be present with children — to play, be creative, and engage with them in a meaningful way. I enjoy getting on their level, encouraging imagination, curiosity, and exploration while creating a calm and supportive environment where they feel safe to be themselves. I have experience caring for children in two different families, including 2-year-old and 6-year-old boys, as well as a 5-year-old girl most recently. I am an only child, but was fortunate to have a large blended extended family and have many cousins, nieces and nephews so caring for children of different ages has always been a natural part of my life. I’m CPR certified and approach caregiving with a strong focus on safety and trust. I enjoy being outdoors and staying active. With the families I’ve worked for, we followed limited electronics use and spent most of our time outside, visiting museums, and exploring parks. As well as arts & crafts.
