My name is Maryam, and I am a full-time second-grade teacher with a strong passion for education and child development. I recently graduated from the University of Hartford with a major in Sociology and a minor in Africana Studies. Throughout my journey, I’ve always found joy in working with children and helping them grow both academically and emotionally. Previously, I served as a student coach at Young Woods Elementary in Providence through the City Year program. During that time, I worked alongside a classroom teacher to support a dynamic group of 26 fourth-grade students—providing tutoring in reading and math, leading classroom activities, and supporting students in developing their social-emotional skills. I was also actively involved in organizing school events and fostering a welcoming, positive school culture. Now, as a second-grade teacher, I bring that same dedication and energy into my own classroom.
