Hi! I am Eliza Kull and am a sophomore at Anderson University. I am a special education major and have a heart to care relationally for children of all different ages. I find much joy in serving and will take any opportunity to snuggle a new born, help an elementary age kid with homework, go for long walks and talks with teens, or just be the friend someone needs. I first started helping with children around age eleven as a mother's helper to a family once a week. Around that time when I was twelve, I took an online class to be certified as a Red Cross babysitter. As I grew in my skills for taking care of children, I began babysitting around age thirteen as much as possible. The past few summers, I have had the opportunity to nanny more full time. It was a joy to spend day Read more after day with the same kids, getting to know their likes and dislikes, quirks and personality traits, and everything else in between. As well as nannying, I spent a week up in North Carolina as a counselor at Camp Joy. This year marked my fourth session being a counselor. Camp joy is a camp for adults with special needs. This is a big reason I am a special education major. Camp Joy has changed my life in numerous ways and has opened my heart to serve those with special needs. For part of my junior and most of my senior year of high school, I worked in the two and three year old nursery class for Sunday evening worship. That summer in between junior and senior year, I worked as the summer Children's Ministry Intern in the morning, followed by babysitting in the afternoon. This past summer concluded for me by taking a missions trip to the Scottish Highlands. My team worked with a church to put on a Holiday Bible Club for the children of Tain. Even though the children and I live a world away, they still welcomed us in and which made for one of the most joyful weeks. Taking care of children over the years has changed me for the better and I pray I can use my talents, skills, and heart to continue to serve families who are seeking help.
