A writer and editor specializing in food and travel, I am semi-retired and augment my income by babysitting and cooking multi-course dinner parties, mainly for Kiawah Island guests. I enjoy children – always have – and began babysitting as a preteen. I have taken care of newborns and young teenagers and every age in between. I prefer the ages of two – eight and can handle large or multiple families. For years I was the sitter-of-choice for a wedding venue, caring for as many as five infants at a time! I volunteer at the tea room of St Philip’s Church and I enjoy teaching kids to cook and/or play restaurant server. My Spanish is quite fluent, and I have been studying my French intensely. Eileen did a great job watching my two year old during a recent trip to Kiawah island. She showed up on time, put her down for a nap per her usual schedule. My daughter really enjoyed her time with her. She was easy to contact and responded promptly. I would definitely use her again. Her rates are somewhat higher than others, but the $10 an hour sitters were hard to contact and did not respond for days.

My family used Eileen to watch our kids for a night while we were in Charleston staying at a hotel. She came with excellent references and planned a wonderful night with the kids. If you are local you are in luck with her and if you are in visiting town she will make sure your kids have a great time and are not stuck in a hotel room. Highly recommend!
