I have two children aged 25 and 21 with the youngest being on the autism spectrum. When my children were younger, I worked in childcare facilities to be around my them, and realized I loved it! Later as my children grew older, I branched out and worked in foster centers as well as a detention camp for teenagers. My love for caring for people grew as I saw how damaging "bare minimum" caregiving can be on growing minds, and how important it is to help all children feel safe and loved. This feeling brought me to work with adults who have the intellectual disabilities as well, who were also lacking the feeling of importance and security. I am back working with children now at a childcare facility, and looking at babysitting on the side to help my daughter with some of her student loans. Questions are welcome!
