am a full-time school teacher during the school year and a nanny/camp counselor/tutor during the summer. I got my degree in English & Education from SUNY Geneseo. I am a member of Teach for America, an elite organization for teachers wishing to work in at-risk schools. In my job as a certified teacher in South Carolina I work with all kinds of diverse learners at a variety of levels. I teach both advanced honors classes and classes of students reading 3-4 levels below grade level. In past summers I have served as a full time nanny for 2 children, a summer camp counselor for children with Autism, and a tutor for at-risk youth. As a nanny I work to provide stimulating activities to kids to keep their minds and bodies active all summer. I love day trips, baking with kids, doing arts and crafts, working on reading and writing skills, Read more and taking them to and from various activities (classes, practices, camps, etc). I adore kids and will develop close bonds with any children I care for. As a camp counselor I worked with children with various disabilities. I was responsible for managing their behavior as well as working with them on social and daily living skills. This experience gives me a unique leg-up on most childcare specialists, as I have worked with an extremely diverse group of children. I received my CPR and first aid certification 2 summers ago, so it will expire in June but I am happy to get re-certified if need be. I have a clean driving record, and as a certified teacher I automatically have a background check done on me.
