Hello, my name is Brianna. I am a 23 year old female, originally from Virginia, but have relocated many times due to parents military career. I recently graduated from the University of Tennessee Knoxville with a major in Psychology, with an emphasis in childhood counseling and child psychology, and a minor in Sociology. I plan on returning to graduate school in order to complete my degree in Childhood Grief Counseling. Because of the heavy and intense nature of the field, I am taking some time off between my undergraduate and graduate careers. I have worked as a nanny for three children, ages 6-11, for three years. In addition, I helped to run and manage the Children's Sunday School and Nursery program at my church during my college career. Not only did this allow me to hone my scheduling abilities, it also allowed me to spend several years working hands on Read more with children, both regulars and newcomers. Through this, I was able to form lasting relationships with some of the children and families, to the point that I was appointed godmother for a family's newborn son. Additionally, during the spring semesters of college, I volunteered at Camp HUGS (Healing and Understanding Through Grief Support) , a children's camp for those children that have lost loved ones. Apart from dealing with young children, I was employed as a Resident Assistant for three years at UTK, on a floor of 62 upperclassmen females. Needless to say, my organizational skills, as well as my conflict resolution skills, have been pretty well honed! Confidentiality was necessary for the position as well. Separate from my love for working with children, I am also highly organized, energetic, and outgoing. I believe in engaging and interacting with children and establishing open lines of communication and respect. With a desire to delve into counseling, the ability to be a good listener and 'sounding board' is a must. In a position as an au pair/nanny/caregiver, I understand that this skill is important for both the children and parent(s). I also enjoy knitting, reading, crafting, cooking, traveling, and practicing yoga. Recently, I traveled to Jamaica to volunteer at the Caribbean Christian Center for the Deaf and the New Hope Orphanage. If you feel that I might be a good fit for your family, please let me know!
