Hello! I have experience for several years in childcare- especially working with children with developmental and intellectual disabilities. I helped raise my younger brother (who is on the autism spectrum), have presented at two autism conferences, have experience volunteering in the CDC classrooms, and ran most programming for the former Autism Society’s community center - where I worked with individuals and families of all ages and abilities. I also consulted with families on IEPs, behavioral therapies, homework help, and have even gone to IEP meetings as an advocate. And - I’m also autistic, too! Because of this, I can relate very easily and children are often excited to see an adult like them. I also have experience working with the older population, as a Quality of Life staff member at a small assisted living center back in high school. I worked mainly with individuals with late stage neurocognitive disorders, mental Read more health conditions (depression, PTSD, and Schizophrenia), and those in hospice care - with my job being to make them feel listened to and less alone. This job also included a summer day camp for children of employees, which I assisted in supervising, counseling, and lesson planning. I have been trained in de-escalation techniques, and have also taken classes on IEPs, (compassionate) behavior management, and much more! I am not certified in first aid, but do have baseline knowledge.
