Hello! I'm am a empty nester mom of a one 24 year old neurodivergent daughter who is finishing up her degree at The University of Tennessee Knoxville. I'm a previous lobbyist from Washington, D.C. I left my successful career to raise our daughter full-time when our family relocated to Brentwood, TN in 2005. I knew that my daughter needed more from me than just dropping her at daycare and neglecting my job as a mom to be a full service lobbyist, which was very demanding of my time morning, noon and night. My daughter has ADHD, extreme tactile awareness/sensitivity and chronic stress disorder. I knew none of this at that time, but I knew when we arrived in TN that I would not stop searching for help for her until I spoke with multiple professionals. There were days she couldn't go to school because she could not process her tactile Read more sensitivity. I drove her to school everyday when she was underage. She and I remember there were days it would take three hours, yes three hours, to help her, while in my SUV, get dressed again after throwing her shoes at me while driving her to school because she couldn't stand her socks or shoes or shirt touching her. I did not go back to work, here in TN, until she graduated from HS. I am now working locally, but would prefer to work in this field going forward as my passion for children, education and animals is my focus. In my spare time, I've been a volunteer animal rescuer for over five years with a National rescue organization that works specifically on animal cruelty cases. I have no fear of animals, and I also had several during my full-time role as a stay-at-home mom. I have a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland. I'm recently divorced after 21 years of marriage. My ex-husband will verify that I am, and have been, an amazing mother to our daughter. He will also verify that I'm equally exceptional with animals.
