I am currently studying ecology and conservation with the goal of becoming an outdoor educator for children. I am hoping to further my experience working with kids as I continue to chip away at my education. I grew up babysitting my younger sister, five years my junior, and many of her friends. These days, I love spending time with my partner's 7 year old daughter and assume some childcaring duties for her - help with homework, reminding to do chores and bedtime routine, reading stories, playing outside, and more. I have several friends and family members who work as early childhood educators and have learned so much from them about interacting with children. While my professional experience is limited, I am a lifelong learner who loves to research interesting topics and put those topics into practice. Child development is one of the topics I find fascinating, and I have delved Read more into many books (most recently: How to Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk and The Whole-Brain Child) in order to improve my connection to and communication with kids. I have been working as a dog walker and pet sitter for nearly two years. I am comfortable with caring for all animals in addition to children, and I am physically fit as I regularly walk up to 6 miles a day for my job. My clients trust me with the safety of both their pets and their homes while they are away and rely on me to communicate promptly and efficiently - something I take incredibly seriously. I am looking forward to gaining more experience in the field of childcare and sharing my love of nature, science, and learning with the kids I will meet!
