Hey!! I am Batool, a 25 year old Graduate student at Columbia! I just moved to NYC to studying mental health counseling. My background is in childcare, and I have been a daycare teacher for almost 2 years! I have worked with all age groups, starting with 3 month olds to 5 year olds. Hence, I have acquired skills and interest in working with a wide range of ages. I have also learnt to track development of different age groups, address any potential behavioral issues with the parents and collaborate on solutions. I love, respect and empathize with kids so much. Their romanticized viewpoint, the way with which they take in the perplexity of life and its struggles, and their resilience are all a testament to the potential they hold to lead fulfilling lives. It was truly an honor to be a part of these children's lives and to have a job that is so fulfilling and meaningful. I am a very gentle and soft teacher/babysitter! I know how to instill rules in kids, but I follow a collaborative approach where the little ones don't feel that they are being told what to do - rather I am helping them understand decide what's is the healthiest choice they can make! I have loads of experience with: troubled sleepers, kids missing parents, bitting/hitting, potty training, picky eaters! I genuinely believe you can never "blame" a kid for any issue, but rather understand their actions and then try to work with them!
