I have been a babysitter since I was a child, as it was my job to look after and feed my two younger brothers, one of which has special needs. My duties included cooking for them, cleaning the house where I could, giving my brother his meds, and just generally protecting and looking after them. After I got a bit older my parents were able to be around more, so I was able to have more time to myself. However, the “mother hen” in me remained, and when my mom had a fourth child, a baby girl, I jumped at the chance to look after her. I bottle fed her, burped her, put her down for naps, read to her, and made sure she had the stimulation needed in a growing baby In addition to this, I’ve babysat for church groups, close family friends, and coworkers through the years. I Read more have experience in caring for and directing small groups of children (5-8 children at a time, ages 1-8) and individual children, and I genuinely enjoy each and every second of it.
