Hi-I'm Virginia! I have been babysitting since as long as it was legal, and over a dozen years later, I still find that each new family feels like the first! Whether a group of siblings I only get to meet once, or a family I get to become a part of and be the 'big sister' for over five years, I enjoy every moment of childcare and family assistance! I grew up in a big family--I'm the oldest of five--so am naturally a caretaker. Throughout college, I nannied primarily with one family, but also got to nanny/babysit for their friends and cousins during my spare time! I have known the oldest child since she turned one, and her little brother since before he was born! I have experience in travel nannying, am extremely comfortable with newborns (even newborn twins!), have gotten the opportunity to get to know many different kids Read more on a wide range of ages and abilities. Whether it's a rainy day where they want to stay inside and read stories, or a sunny day where we spend hours at the park, I am up for whatever activity your babies might want to do! I am full of ideas, songs, stories, jokes, and imagination. I have sleep trained 4 newborns (usually Moms on Call style or some variation), helped potty train over 7 toddlers, taught 3 pre-K kids to read, have helped a team of 10 elementary school aged kids learn to memorize and recite poetry, and have taught dozens of eighth-twelfth graders critical thinking and research writing. I am happy to assist with any specific academic help, though I usually automatically implement learning into play. I moved to Dallas from Atlanta in November to take a volunteer position tutoring English and SEL mentoring in a Dallas ISD middle school with eighth graders that could benefit from extra attention, and love my work with all my heart. I find that children (and adults!) best thrive when they are treated and received with patience and calmness, and I find myself oddly at peace with things like meltdowns and tantrums. I understand I am not a person your child knows well, would never expect a child to immediately trust me, and am always up for the challenge of letting them choose me on their own. I am SEL certified, CPR certified, and provide my own transportation. I am comfortable with car seats in my car and comfortable driving little ones if needed. Of course, with nanny experience, comes experience in doing laundry, meal and snack prep, cleaning up, and whatever else you may need!
