Howdy! I'm Marlen; pleasure to meet you. I was born in California to a large Spanish-speaking family, but have lived in Texas since 2002. I've worked as a substitute teacher in public schools, and have been a regular Sitter/Nanny for wonderful SitterCity families (feel free to call my references!). In the last three years alone I have provided regular care for children between the ages of 0 through 13. I really like kids and I strive to be a positive role model for them. I've enjoyed working with families so much that I've decided to make this my primary work. A little about my work background: · In 2011, I began working as a Dental Assistant alongside a traveling Oral Surgery team, which took me all across the DFW metroplex. · After 3+ years I left the dental field to help care for my aging grandmother. During this time I Read more also started providing regular childcare for two different families. · In 2017 I decided to pursue a long-standing desire: entering the Nursing field. However, I had to put those plans on hold as an unexpected situation arose and instead I began working part-time for a lovely family. · In late 2017 I decided to live abroad and volunteer, so from January to July 2018 I lived in Paraguay, a landlocked country in the heart of South America. I enjoyed my time there, but have been back in the States since mid July 2018. Now that I'm home I hope to continue providing childcare for families in my community! I'm a nature lover and enjoy all things outdoors. I'm adventurous, open minded, and love trying new things. My husband and I have been married for 7 years. We don't have any kids, but we do have 2 dogs, both Spaniels. We have chosen a simple lifestyle so we can dedicate more time to the things that matter most to us: family, friends, and faith.
