When my only child was 3yrs old, there was no acceptable learning facility in my area. So, I left my job at UT M.D. Anderson Cancer Center to provide an academic, fun, learning experience for her. I began with 6 children in my home which progressed to establishing Great Expectations Montessori Learning Center. We enrolled children ages 6mths through kindergarten. Twelve months later there were 200 children, an LVN on staff, 6 Montesssori Certified Teachers plus 16 Teacher Aides, onsite nurse and a cook. I was on site and at school every day , in and out of all classrooms and making certain students were safe, happy, learning and well. When necessary I taught classes. I love children and actually was the teacher in our 3 yr old classroom during the teacher's pregnancy. My husband is deceased and I am now retired. But, I am ready to re-enter the work Read more force doing what I love, working with children. I would welcome the opportunity to care for your children and would love them like my own. I received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Texas Lutheran College and a Masters from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. I am one of 9 children, me being the third born. I was drawn at an early age to caring, playing and teaching the younger children. My mom let me rock them and give bottle feeding. With my small 45 RPM record player and 6 records I rocked them to sleep. When I was in the 6th grade my only brother had a seizure while I was playing in the yard with him. My dad let me hold him while he drove. Because I was very attached to my brother, my parents let me stay in the hospital at his bedside for 2 weeks before he passed. Being able to nurture my siblings was the best learning experience I could receive. In high school I was a regular child-sitter for many families. When at home for holidays from college, I still had opportunities to care for people's children. I look forward to meeting you and your children. Thank you for consideration of my application
