Hi, I’m Emily! I’m 35 years old, and I have 3+ years experience working with infants and toddlers (ages 10 months to 4 years), including one year as a live-in nanny (during which I traveled with the family). I have 2 years additional childcare experience with ages 6-12 in regular babysitting jobs and as a volunteer in a residential/special needs treatment center setting. I am CPR certified, well-read and up-to-date on standard practices, and follow the American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines and recommendations regarding sleep, toilet training, weaning, play, development, and milestones. I have completed the Newborn Care Specialist course from Newborn Care Training Academy, covering feeding, lactation, preemies, sleep training, colic, etc. I am a big proponent of getting out and visiting parks, child museums, zoos, and play/educational settings, and I am always mindful of safety and have a solid driving record. I have experience with food allergies, as Read more well as gluten-free, vegan/vegetarian, and paleo diets. I have worked in bilingual (Hindi, Chinese) households. Additional job duties outside of childcare have included: laundry, food prep/dishes, household errands (grocery shopping), household tidying/organization, appointment setting, and pet care. Childcare appealed to me because of my wholly simple, genuine interest in supporting children as they learn and grow, in being there to listen and hear their thoughts. An undervalued field rich in insights and rewards, I have learned much from being amongst children. Even in my spare time, I continually seek to gain more knowledge about child psychology and development. And, beyond the rewards I gain from working with the children, I also receive immense satisfaction from helping busy parents to organize their lives, schedules, and homes!
