Hello! My name is Lauren Valentine. I have work a variety of jobs with kids in many different environments. I've been working with kids for the past seven years at a YMCA overnight camp, which I now help run. I also run an afterschool program at a school in Leander ISD. Last year I worked as an outdoor education instructor for kids 6-9. It was a magical experience being able to take kids outside every day to explore nature and learn more about the world and its history. During the pandemic lockdown, I work as an at-home instructor/personal nanny for three families doing a small pod learning group. I love being able to hang out and play games with the kids. I enjoy being able to mix learning experiences with fun activities and being able to find the teachable moments in the everyday. I have a bunch of hobbies from Read more ukulele playing to bracelet making. I love crafts and board games. I also enjoy any opportunity to pull out my camp songs! I graduated from Southwestern University in 2019 with a bachelor's in psychology and a minor in studio arts. Not only do I have my CPR cert but I'm also blood control, water safety, and food handlers certified. I'm a believer in positive reinforcement when it comes to behavioral management and I think most problems can be solved through open communication. I will be fully covid vaccinated as of 4/18/21.
