Hello, my name is Christa Batten and I am a one of a kind person. Why? well because I am passionate about the well-being of children of all ages. I am currently a hardworking college student at San Antonio College and am optimistic about finishing at SAC with my Associates in Arts in Psychology soon and transferring over to my dream school, Texas A&M, College Station where I plan to receive my Bachelors and Masters in Child Clinical Psychology. I have babysat and helped coordinate lessons for my past and current churches for over 8 years where I absolutely adored those children. I have been a nanny for two months in Dallas, Texas for a child that was diagnosed with O.D.D. (Oppositional Defiant Disorder) in which I prepared the child to enter the Dallas public school system. The child's cognitive development improved so well, that they were entered into a Read more group of children to be tested for the Gifted and talented program. I also have worked for the Y.W.C.A. for two years as an after school teacher and two months with The Children's Center of Stone Oak as a 2's assistant teacher. The only job that I have had that was not child care related was a two week temporary job for the Goodwill Industries of San Antonio and some experience as a secretary filing important documents. I volunteered for six months as a special needs student helper for the Judson High School special needs unit and participated as an assistant coach for the 2013 Special Olympics. I have to say, I enjoyed every minute of it. I also have a lot of experience in Theatre Arts for recreational, religious affiliation and academic purposes. I have received over three different theatrical competition awards and worked under the direction of two famous Californian directors as one of the main roles of the production. I love theatre and how it helps children express their feelings no matter what they are. I also have volunteered at the Salvation Army and over four different times at Pecan Valley Elementary as a chaperone for a 3rd gr. symphony field trip and a chaperone for an after school club to a nursing home. I am CPR/AED certified and am going to reinstate my certification as soon as possible. I have received certification to be a peer mediator and I received the Amigos in Mediation best overall school peer mediation award for my high school in 2013. At San Antonio College, I have been nominated two years in a row to be part of the The National Society Of Leadership And Success. :)
