Babysitting is probably the BEST PART TIME JOB out there. I’ve been really lucky and the families that I work with are amazing. I prefer babysitting to working in a child care facility because you get more one on one time with the kids. I think it’s hard to build a good relationship with someone when you only spend fifteen distracted minutes with them a few times a week. When you babysit for one family you get to really know the kids and they’re kind of like your extended family. I think I love babysitting because it comes naturally to me. Whether its playing with legos for three hours, playing tag in the neighborhood, or having a movie night its just so much fun to be a kid! I love arts and crafts, games, movies, logic puzzles(which legos are essentially), and role playing. I remember I did a lot of Read more reading when I was a kid and I didn’t really do the playing stuff as much, so maybe that’s why I love it so much now. It’s great when you go to work after class and rather than dreading it, you can’t wait to see what’s going to happen. I hope that when I graduate and (hopefully) become gainfully employed that I’ll still have time to babysit on the side. I’d be so sad if I couldn’t get my weekly coloring fix in!
