She came to meet the kids for half hour and we decided to hire her based on the great reviews a previous employer gave. We waited for more than 2 weeks for her to start since she wanted to give her previous employer enough time and we respected that. After her first day (3.5 hours) with us (and after the kids enthusiastically gave her bear hugs, kisses, and said goodbye), she texted me at night and said she would not be returning, leaving me in a bind to frantically look for someone else. Her reason was, it was too much work to take care of two little kids (they are 3 and 5) and have to prepare dinner... I would love for this to work out but it didn't. Had I knew she didn't want to do this in the first place, I could have used the 2 weeks time to find someone else. Instead, while I was trying to be accommodating, I got short end of the stick in the end. And now I have to start all over again.
