I've been working as a Teaching Assistant for 2nd grade in the Albemarle County public school system for 2 years, an ACAC camp counselor for last summer (will be returning this year) for preschool, and an after school (EDEP) Teacher for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade for 2 years in Albemarle County. In summation, I have experience helping children with their homework (math and literacy), playing organized games, planning activities and implementing them, going on field trips with the children, getting through nap time and general care. I am CPR certified (will get renewed in June) and First Aid trained. I completed my undergraduate education at the University of Virginia with a degree in sociology. Currently, I'm enrolled in Mary Baldwin College's Masters' in Teaching program for elementary education. I've completed a year of my studies so far. I love working with children. I believe they are a the building Read more blocks of our society and that it is up to their experiences and the guiding adults to help them succeed. I believe that every child has potential and with the right amount of patience, guidance, experience, and care that we (as adults) can tap into it. I enjoy reading, doing arts and crafts, group games, board games, cooking activities, going outside. Personally, I enjoy doing yoga, reading, watching movies, shopping, and drawing/painting.
