I'm the mother of a six-year old, and I have spent nearly four years as a stay-at-home parent. I’ve taken over two dozen parenting classes, and have been through all the trials of potty training, teething, picky eating, and child-proofing. While I don't have much experience as a paid babysitter, I've occasionally looked after my friends' children and I regularly volunteer in my son's 1st grade classroom. In high school, I spent three years as a tutor for struggling 4th-8th graders, and I worked in college as a tutor for advanced mathematics. I’ve discovered that I find great satisfaction in helping students learn, and I am particularly skilled with one-on-one help. Ideally, I’m looking to help out another family by providing regular care, either in my home or in theirs, for kids of nearly any age. Aside from that, I’m happy to be there when you need me—I’m available on weekdays all day, and can be available for the occasional evening or weekend. If your child needs help with schoolwork or has a particular interest they want to learn about, all the better. I’m willing and able to run errands and do some housework as well, but having a schedule (or at least advance notice) is important to me. My care-giving style is a proactive one that facilitates children’s own independence. I love reading, crafting, and science, but more than anything I enjoy learning new things. Under my care, your child will have the opportunity to explore their interests and to exercise responsibility.
