I am a full time student at American University. I have extensive experience working with children from babysitting over the last 4 years, volunteering in an orphanage abroad run by SOS Children's Villages, and even in a classroom setting. I currently work for an Americorps program called Jumpstart, where I help lead a classroom of preschool aged children twice a week. A typical day in my preschool classroom involves arts and crafts, dramatic play, interactive book readings, as well as writing practice. I am very organized and reliable, but I'm also not afraid to let out my inner child and truly connect with the children I am working with.

Lauren is a very sweet person. I could tell that with a little more experience, especially with toddlers, she would be an amazing babysitter. The day before her last shift, as she was leaving and told me that the day went well, Lauren canceled for the next day. She left and returned to let me know that my three-year old had bitten her and that she had never experienced biting with a child before this experience. I inquired about her saying the evening was fine and leaving and if this had happened before today to which she replied "No". I told her that I wished she would have told me as soon as it happened and apologized for it happening. I think with more experience with toddlers and learning how to be more direct, she would be an asset with another family. I am leery about her handling of the situation and the fact that I did try to reach out to her because I did feel bad but she would not even return my text.
