Hi my name is Griselda. I started working with children in 2011, when I became a substitute teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools. I knew working with children was an ideal fit for me because I grew up in a big family and I always ended up playing and sometimes taking care of the smaller children. After 4 years of substitute teaching I finally applied and was hired as an instructional assistant for the head start program (3 and 4 year olds). It was such a rewarding experience. That same year I also applied to grad school at George Mason to obtain my Masters in Early Childhood Education. I also had a great opportunity to work with a different age group (10/11 year olds) when I worked as a Summer Camp Counselor. I loved the community so much I decided to apply to work part time and eventually started to Read more get requests to babysit many of the preschoolers. To this day I continue to babysit when I’m working in the preschool (as an assistant teacher). I’m looking for a long term babysitting or nanny position at the moment. I love babysitting because it allows me to spend more one on one time with children and get to know them better. It is also easier for me to balance babysitting or nannying with school. I want to complete my master’s within the next two years. I’m great with the younger age groups 0-5 but am flexible and open to working with slightly older children. I’m patient and gentle and have been very lucky to work in this field. It doesn’t take long for me to win children over with my personality. I like to observe them and get an idea of their personality and usually they start to get comfortable with me. I am very hands on, I don’t mind getting down and dirty to play with children. At the same time, I make sure to clean as I go.
