I graduated from JMU in 2012 with a B.S. in dietetics and returned to Mary Baldwin College in 2014 to complete requirements for becoming a special education teacher. I have worked as a teaching assistant in two different special education classrooms, including a classroom for those with autism and one for those with intellectual disabilities. This past year, I was a special education teacher in the autism program for students in kindergarten and first grade, overseeing nine students and three classroom assistants. I have since made the difficult decision to stay home with my newborn son for this year. I love working with children, particularly those with disabilities, and would enjoy the opportunity to continue working with them on a part-time basis.
