I first started actively caring for children when my bestfriend had her daughter. This experience allowed me to become a mother's helper 5 years ago when I was 19 . I soon began babysitting regularly on weekends by the time I was 20.when I became a mother's helper for a friend of a friend. The child was 9 months old; now she is 7 and I still babysit for her family which includes two younger siblings. I really enjoy the relationship this family and I have and appreciate them as I do my own friends and family. The three children are very lively and we love running around their huge yard, taking walks in the neighborhood, swimming during the summer, and doing a lot of crafts when it's too cold to go outside. Although I babysit for many families, I also have full time nanny experience. In order to become a full time nanny, I have taken on summer nanny positions prior to my position now that gave me experience with infants and the unique responsibility a nanny has versus a babysitter. I have experience with older kids as well. For example, one of the families has outgrown the need for a weekend babysitter, but I drive them around or hang out if the older sibling is out. I was a camp counselor and have assisted teaching at a tennis camp for a number of years. The ages ranged from 2 years old to 16 years old. I am 29 and in many ways "still a kid" myself: I love being outside, being active, staying busy, learning, hanging out, and finding new ways to have fun.
