My name is Dara and I am a college student who is currently working as a care attendant for both children and adults! I began babysitting years ago as I provided after-school care for my younger siblings. Since then, I've picked up professional training in working with those who have intellectual disabilities. In 2014, I began working with a program at George Mason University that catered to the needs of intellectually disabled college students. As a residential support staff, I assisted students with daily chores such as cleaning, meal preparation, laundry, etc. Alongside of chores, I've assisted students with personal hygiene, extracurricular activities, homework, and job coaching. Currently, I am working part-time hours with a 14 year-old who has autism and his 9 year-old brother. While on this job, I provide assistance with homework, potty-training, meal preparation, transportation, and various therapy sessions.
