Hi there, my name is Kathia or Kat (for short!) and I had experiences with children ever since my family moved here to Roanoke in 2006. My mom became a full-time house mom and babysitter ever since I was a toddler! Therefore, I’ve been surrounded by children of all ages; from newborns to elementary kids. Back in December 2021, I worked for Roanoke County Parks and Recreation Tourism as an after-school activity leader at an elementary school. In other words, I was an after-school teacher. I absolutely enjoyed my time working around with elementary students. It taught me a lot of patience as well as showing me how to be a creative, caring, and fun individual. As an after-school teacher, we were required to prepare snacks for the children, clean and sanitize play and table areas, help with any homework or school project, supervise (in general) during outdoor recess, and Read more clean up areas to prevent injuries or harm. I love being being sitter because kids can teach you patience, selflessness, and kindness. Although, I don’t have kids of my own, I do view my (currently) 6-month old Cocker Spaniel as a child of mine’s. In my perspective, what sets me as a sitter is that I’m used to being around children, so I know what kids like to do for their free-time!
