I am a Child Care Professional who has just moved into the Herman L. Horn area. I love Jesus, and I love children! The care I provide is a combination of my experiences as a lead teacher in a child care center, a licensed foster parent, a licensed in-home child care provider in my previous state for 7 years, a volunteer and director in my churches' Children's Ministries, and a mom to my 7 children. I enjoy building a loving, nurturing, safe, clean environment where children feel emotionally secure and can explore and learn through teacher directed group activities as well as individual and peer play. Our day includes USDA food program approved breakfast, lunch and snack and nap/rest time in child care approved cribs or on cots. We play outside in my large, fenced-in backyard as much as the weather permits and take walks with my 4-child stroller when Read more it's too muddy out back and isn't raining. My children (I mean your children, should you choose to let me care for them.) stimulate their brains through circle time activities, story times, arts & crafts, puzzles, games, play-dough, music, pretend play, etc. We participate in fine and gross motor activities daily. I will frequently google something my children show an interest in and, after previewing it, share it with them such as a video depicting how apple juice is made. We don't watch TV but will view an occasional child friendly DVD such as Veggie Tales. We have so much fun we don't even realize we're learning! My degree is in Secondary Education with endorsements in English and German, but my heart is with infants and preschoolers. I am CPR/1st Aid certified and am currently updating my background check. My home is a non-smoking home with a 6-month old mix puppy from the Roanoke SPCA. I am willing to care for breast-fed babies, change cloth diapers and administer medications. My hours are 7 AM to 5:30 PM unless special arrangements are made. Parents will receive a note at the end of each day telling about their child's day and a periodic photo. Parents of enrolled or interviewing children are welcome to drop by anytime during child care hours. Previous parents have said they enjoy peace of mind knowing that their children are being well taken care of. You can have that assurance, too! I am accepting only 4 children until my license is complete because that is the law in Virginia. I will be happy to meet with you to answer any questions and see if we could be a good fit for each other.
