Hi! My name is Taylor and I enjoy looking after both kids and pets. Growing up I lived in a small neighborhood in which many of the families practiced an "open door policy". What came from that was a lot of playing with kids my age at the time as well as younger and sometimes older. This was my first experience in babysitting and I look back on those days fondly. As I got older, I was the after school babysitter for my neighbors; two, energetic and outside-loving boys ages 6 and 9. I would go on to be their babysitter for close to three years. I'd pick them up from the bus stop, walk them home, prepare snacks, ensure their homework is completed and lessons are understood and leave plenty of time for play and activity. During some summers in college while living at home I would make some Read more extra money by babysitting my cousin who was 12 years old at the time. My aunt would drop him off each morning on her way to work and we would play games, go on hikes and walks, play outside and swim at the nearby public pool. After I graduated college in 2015, my first job was working at a family camp in Maine. My job was 50% camp photographer, 50% camp gardener. When I wasn't photographing camp activities or tending to the 3 main kitchen gardens at the camp, I lead garden-based activities for kids of all different age groups. I taught them how to identify poison ivy/oak, harvest vegetables, care for plants, how to identify edible flowers in gardens, the importance of beneficial insects... the list goes on. After I moved to Vermont, I began farming - in this job, I often led groups of volunteers (often college-aged) on different on-farm tasks: harvesting, washing and packing vegetables; as well as caring for some of the farm animals: egg-laying hens, sheep and pigs. I continued to lead volunteers of varying ages as needed when I moved to my next job working for a food hub. Most recently, many of my friends have started having children and I love to help them out when needed. I also pet sit for friends and acquaintances when they are out of town as a means for side income. I am the go-to petsitter for a friend of mine who has one very energetic dog, two cats and three sheep. I like to think I can bring a lot of fun to the table when caring for children. I love to get outside and show kids the importance of spending time in the outdoors. I also love to cook, and would love to share the fun of preparing nourishing foods with kids.
