Meet Emma

My name is Emma and I am a senior, studying elementary education at UMF! My passion for working with kids is something that brings me a lot of joy. I'm a kind, loving, fun, and silly person who has the heart of a child, which I think is why kids tend to love me so much. I first discovered my love for teaching when I began to teach skiing to children at a local resort in my hometown in Vermont. I have worked there for five seasons, and additionally, have lots of experience babysitting. I started babysitting when I was about 15, and have worked with children of all ages. I spent time with an infant, whom I cooked for and put to bed, then spent 4 summers with the same family of three kids who I watched grow into middle and high schoolers. I love those kids like they're Read more my siblings and would do anything for them. We spent days swimming at the river, doing baking projects, making friendship bracelets, and playing games. This past summer, I also traveled to Italy alone, where I lived as a nanny for three months with a family with 3 young boys, two 4-year-old twins and an 8-year-old. I taught the kids English while also learning Italian, and learned to navigate my way around a foreign city while keeping the kids safe and happy. I have also spent time working in Kindergarten and first grade classrooms, where I have learned teaching strategies that prove useful in babysitting. Recently, I have found myself lacking the time with children that makes me so happy. I'm looking to find a job babysitting so that I can earn some extra cash, but especially to build a connection with a child or children, that would provide me some fun in my busy, college weeks.
