My name is Maria and I'm 18 years old and have lived in Seattle my whole life. I went to Seattle Preparatory School for high school and participated in Track and Field, Peer Mentoring, the Freshman Retreat, Peer Tutoring, and Global Justice Coalition. Now, I'm attending the University of Wisconsin, Madison and I'm majoring in Psychology. I love working with kids and have been babysitting on and off since I was in 8th grade. I volunteered at my elementary school, St. Anne's, where I assisted teachers in lessons and helped kids in all grades with their assignments in class. I think it's extremely important to create a positive learning environment for kids so that they can learn to express and advocate for themselves. I am on the Belonging, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee in my sorority where we give presentations on topics we think are important for girls to become Read more aware of in college, and later in life. I am passionate about advocating for others, as well as making sure I am acting inclusively and equitably. In addition to my past experience with kids, I love to be active and go outdoors. I enjoy hiking with my friends and dogs in my free time as well as playing tennis, swimming, biking, and working out in general. As I have mentioned before, I believe it is very beneficial to express yourself, and I do this through fashion, music, writing, and art. I love pets and have 2 dogs myself who I am always playing with and taking care of. I am a very bubbly person and put lots of care and effort into everything I do, and am ready to bring this energy into your household. I just took a Child Development course, Psychology 460, and I have gained a lot of knowledge on how to create safe environments for children to learn about their identity, as well as healthily develop socially and cognitively. I believe that with all of my qualifications, as well as my personality, I would bring a lot of good energy into any household, and help your kids in their day-to-day activities, while also keeping the house neat and clean.
