Hello All, A little bit about me. I am a 39 year old female, full time, Special education Teacher. I have 20 years of experience working with kids and animals. I am more than happy and able to look after any furbabies you may have as well. I have a perfectly clean back ground and driving record. I have worked with many families and can provide more references on my behalf than necessary. I am still friends with all of the families I have worked for before I started teaching and I am currently in my 6th year of teaching. I have accomplished a lot in my life but the one thing that makes me happiest is what I do for a living. I am very chill, responsible and honest. I care very deeply for the kids / pets I watch and always aim to have long term connections with any family I work with. I am excellent with time management and homework help. I strongly encourage having an open communication level and understanding with parents because I feel that it is most beneficial for the children or pets concerned. I am firm when I need to be but always playful and goofy to keep the mood light. If you are wondering why I am trying to be a nanny as well as a teacher, its because I am moving to New Zealand next year which is very exspensive. I do have a spinal disability that prevents me from doing a lot of heavy excercise but I do not require a wheelchair or assistance. I am artistic, a great cook and love music. I spray paint galaxies, and draw mostly. I don't mind disney movies or fun games. I have a 12 year old Miniature Australian Shepard named Remedy who has been trained, is non-aggressive and is quite the gaurdian to children. She does not have to come along, just letting you know. With me you'll get a highly certified and reccomended "Cool Aunt," who enforces the rules, prioritizes homework and will act as a trusted adult / child advocate. Hi! I have a BSc in Psychology (minors Sociology, English) and a MSc in Developmental Psychology. I loved working with young children and families at an early learning daycare center before I got my MSc in the UK. I was hired as the lead toddler teacher (working primarily with 12-30 month olds in a 1:7 ratio) and ended up working as the assistant director. This was great administrative and early childhood education experience, and I worked with all ages at the preschool (infancy - school age) while managing the facility. I’ve also babysat and nannied for years. My favorite ages to play with, sing to, and teach about life are definitely infancy - two years. With a background in psychological and lifespan human development, my approach is rooted in supporting children's cognitive, socio-emotional, behavioral, and physical growth while promoting independence and self-esteem. I love to do this by engaging in fun developmentally appropriate play - crafts, musical, sensory, imaginative play, etc. - and by demonstrating to children that I am a safe adult who will respect and advocate for them, give structured support (i.e., follow through on commitments, hold boundaries, etc.), provide them space to build trust in our relationship, and by using positive behavior support. I apply these practices age appropriately and adapt them to the child, as infants and younger toddlers, for example, might require more physical affection (snuggles, rocking to sleep) than school age kids. I am putting out feelers to keep working with young children while I decide if I will apply for PhD program or other industry position. I will communicate transparently about these changes, as I know how important it is for you (and me) to build consistency in relationships with littles. In the mean time, however, I can provide quality part-time care, help you out in a pinch if your nanny falls through, or help if you are looking to try out a new sitter on the evenings or weekends :)

Hello! My name is Rumana, and I'm a recent graduate from UW Seattle. I’m currently studying for the MCAT and babysitting on the side, so my schedule is pretty flexible between the two! I am located in Seattle and can conveniently get to anywhere close by, such as Capitol Hill, but also have a car and can travel farther (as far as Bellevue, Redmond, Renton, etc.) if needed. I love kids and hope to become a pediatrician one day! To me, working with children is incredibly fun and exciting—I love to engage their curiosity and sense of play as a babysitter and help them learn how to be respectful and kind as peers at the same time. I have experience working with kids of all ages, particularly between infants to around 11 years old. Subsequently, I obtained my bachelor's, master's and PhD degrees in political science, the latter degree at the age of 55.
