Greetings! I am happy to announce that I am moving to Olympia, WA October 31st and would like to start a nannying/babysitting job once I am settled. I just graduated with a Bachelor or Arts degree in psychology at the University of Vermont. I have babysat all throughout middle school and high school. I also took a child development course that required me to spend time at the community preschool. From there I studied child development in college and also worked as a social worker with a young girl who has very low functioning autism. This summer I worked as a camp counselor in Bend, OR through the park and recreation district. Until I move the 31st of October I am working at the local elementary school doing an after school program for kids with working parents. Now those are just the logistics regarding my experience. Here's the juicy stuff! Read more I've always felt a need to be involved in a child's life, whether that be as a caretaker or through work. Children make work so much more interesting and I am always, always learning more from the child than I am from my superiors in the workplace! I grew up in a very loving household with some of the greatest babysitters. I've always tried to emulate those babysitters through being the child's friend and stepping down to their level and seeing how they experience the world around them. I've watched a number of children I've worked with grow and blossom into confident individuals. For example, this summer I taught a 10-year-old girl how to ride a bike at the camp I worked at. After learning this skill she became more social and I learned from her parents that she started to spend much more time exploring the outdoors outside of camp. Now a little more about me. I'm passionate, loving, responsible, energetic, and enthusiastic about life! I have a zest for it truly. I have a passion for travel, the arts, and learning. I want to continue my studies after a few years off from school in either art education or art/nature therapy. I just moved across the country and found that Olympia is truly the place for me. I am in a position of transition and feel that work with children really helps me feel at home in myself and in whatever community I am in.
