Hi there! My name is Em, and I am an experienced, compassionate, and energy-loving individual who is dedicated to the world of childcare and development. With a running background in child development and theater, I aspire to provide the space our children need to grow confidently, blending knowledge and teaching moments with silliness and empathy. I had the privilege to practice exactly this in my year-long experience at The Little Gym, where I worked as an instructor for ages ranging from 1-12. My specific experience lies primarily in ages 1-5, as I taught the classes involved with parents learning alongside their kiddos, as well as the independent preschool classes. Never a dull moment in these classes! We were always on our feet, learning with our bodies and brains simultaneously. My passion lies in child development, meaning that I am aware and understanding of the varying levels and differing needs of Read more every child, no matter the age. I can identify and apply my knowledge of development and education to a wide variety of scenarios, whether it be tailoring a meal plan for our picky 2 year-old, (I cook too!) or developing a homework system together with our curious 3rd grader. I believe myself to be particularly skilled in allowing children to feel listened to and seen, ESPECIALLY in tough moments involving big emotions. On top of this, I also come with the skills of activity-planning, culinary arts, crafts, and my certifications in First Aid and CPR. I also feel it’s important to mention that I have specific knowledge and skills in children with special needs, as I was raised alongside a brother with severe ASD and grew to be very familiar with what it looks like and the special care it requires. Above everything, it is most important to me that you know that I deeply care about our kids and that there is nothing I want more than for you to feel comfortable with who you’re leaving to care for your little ones. I want you to step out that front door feeling confident that you’re in safe hands. No matter if your kiddo is at the stage where they’ve just recently made the miraculous discovery of travel by feet, perfecting belting their ABC’s to proudly show off to their school companions, or navigating the awkward independence of impending teenage-hood, I can guarantee I will be prepared for all of it every step of the way.
